Before Louis Pasteur was born, the Pasteur name already had a long and storied history. Records trace the lineage back to the 17th century in the Franche-Comté region of France. Perhaps most fascinating is that for nearly 200 years, from the early 1600s to the mid-1800s, the Pasteur name was associated with a "dynasty of executioners" in Switzerland. Over seven generations of Pasteurs served as public executioners, a stark contrast to the life-saving work Louis would later pioneer. This lineage includes figures like Jean-Joseph Pasteur and Claude Etienne Pasteur, the latter being Louis Pasteur's great-grandfather.

Louis Pasteur's work on vaccination and germ theory revolutionized the field of medicine. His research on anthrax, rabies, and other diseases led to the development of groundbreaking vaccines. From an early age she demonstrated a strong appetite for learning, often pursuing self-directed studies in natural philosophy, basic chemistry, and literature—subjects that were uncommon for women of her social milieu at the time. Her informal education, supplemented by mentorship from local teachers and access to a small personal library, laid the foundation for an analytical mindset and disciplined work habits.

It was Sophie who noticed a pattern: the silkworms that survived were those from batches where she had personally cleaned the rearing trays with a vinegar solution. She mentioned this to Louis, who tested the hypothesis and discovered that the pathogen was transmitted via contaminated surfaces. This insight was foundational to the development of antiseptic protocols. Yet, her name appears nowhere in the final report.

Oh, goody, another one. This one doesn't yet have copies of my two KDP books, although it does have one of my older MIRA titles there. Since I discovered my two new books on the Tuebl site a week ago, I've found at least a half-dozen other sites that are also giving away my books for free. I sent Tuebl a DMCA notice, according to the format specified on their site. Yesterday, I noticed that the links were no longer working. Good, I thought. One small step for mankind. This morning, the books are back up there. The problem is that these are file-sharing sites. It's users, not the site administrators, who are pirating the books and handing them out to every Tom, Dick and Harry. So even if the sites take them down, the next day another user will just re-post them. As my husband said, trying to battle them is like trying to bail out the Titanic...with a soup can. Until somebody with real clout does something about this (like the RIAA did for music), there's no way of stopping it.

Once these sites list your book, it can then easily be found "free" via Google. Amazon doesn't "price match" the book, do they?
