SketchUp 2024 brings several quality-of-life improvements aimed at making the design process more intuitive:
: A new error dialog helps identify problematic plugins during startup, preventing the entire application from hanging due to a single faulty extension.
If you're on older hardware, don't worry—you can still toggle back to the "Classic" engine in the Preferences menu. 2. Ambient Occlusion for Native Realism
To run SketchUp Pro 2024 effectively, your system should meet the following SketchUp Hardware Requirements : Component Recommended RAM 8 GB (16 GB preferred) GPU 512 MB VRAM 1 GB+ VRAM (Discrete AMD/NVIDIA) OS Windows 10/11 MacOS 12.0 to 14.0 (Sonoma)

LayOut, the 2D documentation tool in SketchUp Pro, has received its own share of updates for better performance.
Small, meaningful UI tweaks create a more fluid design environment.
LayOut's inference locking now behaves more like SketchUp, improving the responsiveness of moving and copying entities. Additionally, when drawing, LayOut limits available references to entities closest to the last mouse click, reducing visual noise and streamlining workflow.
A small but valuable quality-of-life improvement is the new Extension Error Dialog. If an extension fails to load when SketchUp launches, users now see an informative error dialog that can:
Working across different design software platforms is easier with v24.0.594.
: If the draft appears distorted, select the Zoom tool ('Z') and type a value in degrees to adjust the focal length.
Importantly, the legacy SketchUp Checkup tool that previously helped users validate system compatibility is no longer available for the 2024 version, as it cannot provide accurate information regarding the new graphics engine's requirements.
