Silent Hunter 3 All Submarines -
Start with the VIIB in mid-1940. Save renown for:
Now it's time to choose your boat, assemble your crew, and slip beneath the waves. Good hunting, Herr Kaleun.
: Built with a strengthened hull, this variant features the deepest crush depth of the VII series. Use deep diving maneuvers (beyond 250 meters) to escape the lethal late-war Allied depth charge patterns. Type IX Variant: The Long-Range Cruiser silent hunter 3 all submarines
🔥 Your crew won’t praise your boat choice—they’ll remember your decisions. Do you dive deep in a Type II and survive a depth charge attack? Risk a Type IX surface interception in heavy fog? Or race into a convoy at 17 knots submerged in a Type XXI?
Moderate crush depth (around 150m-250m for VIIC), susceptible to advanced destroyer attacks later in the war. Start with the VIIB in mid-1940
In vanilla SH3, the Type IX is a viable super-weapon. In supermods (GWX), its slow dive makes it nearly unusable after mid-1942 unless you have snorkel.
This is the ultimate logistics U-boat. No torpedo tubes. No deck gun. Only AA guns. You carry 400 tons of fuel and 15 torpedoes for resupplying other U-boats. Players use it to create forward operating bases – for example, parking the Type XIV off the Azores and shuttling torpedoes via Type VIIs. : Built with a strengthened hull, this variant
Stay in Type II only for the first two (1939) patrols. Sink small merchies in the British coastal zone. Transfer to a Type VIIB as soon as Flotilla allows (mid-1940).
The Type VII was the most produced submarine class in history (703 boats). The VIIB added saddle tanks for extra fuel and two stern torpedo tubes, making it a true Atlantic predator.
: An incremental upgrade available later in the early-war phase. It integrates larger saddle tanks to extend operational range and slightly enhances diving endurance. Tactical Assessment
: It features a slightly deeper crush depth and better anti-aircraft upgrade options than the VIIB. It handles the tightening Allied anti-submarine warfare (ASW) grip of 1942–1943 better than earlier models. Type VIIC/41 Role : Late-war survival specialist. Torpedo Tubes : 4 bow, 1 stern. Torpedo Loadout : 14 total. Deck Gun : 88mm (removed in later campaign years).
